Our Team

PAULA COOK

Managing Director
Solicitor, LLB (Hons), ACII, MBACS, Dip CILA

Paula has worked for cargo and freight liability insurers dealing with claims across a variety of international accounts. She worked in London as a Solicitor with a leading law firm dealing with cargo and freight liability claims. Paula also has experience of providing Third Party Administration Claims Handling Services and recovery services. She is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and has over 30 years’ experience in the above sectors.

PHIL CAST

Recoveries Director
 

Phil enjoyed 7 years in the Lloyds and Company Market as a Placing Broker for an international broker house. In addition to pursuing recoveries, Phil spent some time as a surveyor investigating all aspects of goods in transit related claims.

Since 1997 he has been successfully negotiating claims and recoveries involving the Carriage of Goods by Sea, Air and Road, Warehouse Operators, Ports and Terminals and all types of Logistics operations.

Phil has travelled extensively allowing him to meet with clients and opponents alike, which has provided him with a firm understanding of the expectations for various Markets around the world.

HARRY EIKEN

Senior Surveyor
BA (Hons), ABACS

Harry is an Associate Member of the British Association of Cargo Surveyors and has a degree in Accountancy. He began surveying in 2011 and is experienced in a range of surveys, including cargo and freight liability, perishable commodities, in particular refrigerated cargo, as well as theft investigations.

Harry has handled claims with delegated authority for a major insurer and joined MRI in 2017 as the surveyor covering the North, Midlands and West of the UK.

DAVID BROOKER

Senior Surveyor
BEng (Hons), ABACS, MIET

David is an Associate Member of the British Association of Cargo Surveyors and has a degree in Integrated Engineering. David Joined MRI in September 2019 from a well established marine surveying company and is experienced in claims concerning steel, heavy machinery, refrigerated cargoes, perishable goods, timber, theft investigation, migrant contamination, household goods as well as heavy lift and loading and discharge supervision.

VICKY LAWLER

Senior Recoveries Handler
 

Vicky began a career in the Insurance Industry within household and professional indemnity renewals. Some 18 years ago she moved into the marine insurance industry pursuing recovery claims involving multimodal transport and warehousing matters. Vicky joined MRI in June 2023 where she continues to pursue recovery claims and undertakes desktop surveys and reporting on a variety of claims.

AIMEE HARE

Claims and Recoveries Handler
 

Aimee joined MRI in September 2024 having previously worked for other claims and recoveries agents for over 10 years. Aimee undertakes desktop surveys and reporting on a variety of claims including cargo, freight liability, stock throughput and warehousing matters.
